Fighting For justice
Citizens Project is actively engaged in a coalition of community organizers working towards accountability for our local law enforcement and justice for those harmed by police brutality. We joined this work in August 2019, after the killing of De’Von Bailey by Colorado Springs Police. We have helped host discussions in the community, attended the NACOLE conference on Law Enforcement Accountability in Austin, and continue to have conversations and strategize with community organizers and elected leaders about ways we can move forward towards justice.
Read the Law Enforcement Transparency and Accountability Primer prepared by Colorado Springs attendees of the academic symposium “New Frontiers in Oversight” in March 2020. This work was initiated and supported by the Justice for De’Von Editorial Board.
